Deutsche Grammophon will release Tchaikovsky & Shakespeare, a new recording by Gustavo Dudamel and the the Simón Bolívar Symphony Orchestra of Venezuela, on March 1 internationally and on March 9 in the U.S. As the title suggests, the repertoire on the album includes works by Tchaikovsky that were inspired by the Bard's plays: his three Overture-Fantasies Romeo and Juliet, Hamlet and The Tempest. Dudamel will also perform these pieces with the LA Phil for the next LA Phil LIVE transmissions to movie theaters in the U.S. and Canada on March 13.
