Deutsche Grammophon releases Gustavo Dudamel's original soundtrack to The Liberator

“Gustavo Dudamel makes his first foray into composing for film with the major feature Libertador (the life of Simón Bolívar), for which he wrote the score and recorded it with the Simón Bolívar Symphony Orchestra of Venezuela. Deutsche Grammophon releases the album in the United States and Venezuela this July, with further releases worldwide in the coming months.
Libertador, or The Liberator, is released in Venezuelan cinemas on July 24 and in the United States October 3. Worldwide release details forthcoming.
On July 21, Gustavo joins fellow composers John Williams and Gustavo Santaolalla at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. In a conversation hosted by Tavis Smiley, the trio will discuss significant musical moments in film that have inspired their work as they examine the art and process of creating a film score as well as the director-composer collaboration.
Gustavo and the LA Phil premiere the Suite from Libertador is being premiered at the Hollywood Bowl as part of the Noche de Cine, July 31.
