Gustavo and the Los Angeles Philharmonic Perform Adès’ Dante on World-Premiere Audio Recording

Gustavo Dudamel and the Los Angeles received rave reviews for their U.S. premiere of Adès’ Dante in April 2022. Hailed as a “a musical invention” by the LA Times, the group’s interpretations were recorded live at the Walt Disney Concert Hall by Nonesuch Records for release as a digital and physical album — the work’s world-premiere audio recording.

Out today, 21 April 2023, Thomas Adès: Dante is a ballet score in three acts – “Inferno,” “Purgatorio,” and “Paradiso” – inspired by the alternately chilling and sunlit landscapes of Dante Alighieri’s La Divina Commedia. Today, as part of the release, Nonesuch will also offer limited-edition two-LP vinyl edition of the album, featuring artwork by Tacita Dean and photography from the Royal Ballet’s performance; the artwork and photography are also in the CD packaging.

Thomas Adès: Dante is available NOW as a standard physical and digital album, in addition to the limited-edition two-LP vinyl offering. Listen here.
