"West Side Story," led by Gustavo Dudamel, at Salzburger Festspiele
On May 13 and 15, 2016, Music Director Gustavo Dudamel and the Simón Bolívar Symphony Orchestra of Venezuela make their return to the Salzburger Festspiele's Whitsun Festival for Leonard Bernstein and Stephen Sondheim's beloved West Side Story featuring original staging and choreography by Jerome Robbins.
The revival production includes director Philip Wm. McKinley, set designer George Tsypin, costume designer Ann Hould-Ward and choreographer Liam Steel, and spotlights performances by Cecilia Bartoli as Maria, Norman Reinhardt as Tony, Karen Olivo as Anita, George Akram as Bernardo and Dan Burton as Riff.
The Salzburger Bachchor, under the direction of chorus master Alois Glaßner, joins Gustavo and the Bolívars at Salzburg's Felsenreitschule.
