Gustavo Dudamel conducts Reimann world premiere and Beethoven’s Ninth with Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra for Konzerthaus centennial celebration

This weekend Gustavo Dudamel returns to conduct the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra in concerts that celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Vienna Konzerthaus. The Venezuelan conductor leads the orchestra in Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony, “Choral,” featuring soprano Julianna Di Giacomo, mezzo-soprano Katarina Karnéus, tenor Klaus Florian Vogt, bass Franz-Josef Selig, and the Singakademie of the Wiener Konzertvereinsin. To open the centennial concerts, Gustavo and the orchestra perform the world premiere of Aribert Reimann’s “Prologue to Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony,” commissioned specially for the Konzerthaus’s centennial.

The concerts take place October 19 and 20 in the Großer Saal of the Vienna Konzerthaus.
