This bicentennial year Gustavo Dudamel leads Verdi’s ‘Aida’ and ‘Requiem’ at Hollywood Bowl with LA Phil
LA Phil Music Director Gustavo Dudamel returns to the Hollywood Bowl for an all-Verdi week that includes a concert performance of Aida on August 11 and two performances of the Italian composer’s Requiem on August 13 and 15. For his August 11 performance at the Hollywood Bowl, Gustavo leads the LA Phil in a one-night-only concert of Verdi's tragic opera Aida, featuring soprano Liudmyla Monastyrska in the title role, Jorge de León as Radames, Michelle DeYoung as Amneris, Eric Owens as Amonasro, Stefan Kocan as Ramfis, Jordan Bisch as the King, and Janai Brugger as the High Priestess.
On August 13 and 15, Gustavo leads two performances of Verdi's magnificent Requiem with the LA Phil, the Los Angeles Master Chorale and a quartet of soloists comprising soprano Julianna Di Giacomo, mezzo-soprano Michelle DeYoung, tenor Vittorio Grigolo, bass Ildebrando D’Arcangelo. Radio station KUSC will broadcast Gustavo’s Hollywood Bowl performance of Verdi’s Requiem on September 22 at 7pm PT. For details, please click here.
