Paul Desenne’s Sinfonía Burocratica ed’Amazzonica & Prokofiev 3 with Lang Lang and LA Phil
This week Gustavo Dudamel conducts the Los Angeles Philharmonic in Venezuelan-born cellist/composer Paul Desenne’s Sinfonía Burocratica ed’Amazzonica alongside works by Ravel and Prokofiev in concerts May 8 to 10. Ravel’s Valse nobles et sentimentales and La valse frame Desenne’s tropical symphony in five movements and Prokofiev’s Third Piano Concerto, featuring guest pianist Lang Lang.
Looking ahead, violinist Joshua Bell joins Gustavo and the LA Phil for Sibelius’s Violin Concerto in a program that also includes Mozart’s Overture to The Abduction from the Seraglio and Symphony No. 36, “Linz.” The concerts, which take place May 15 & 16, anticipate Così fan tutte, which comes to Walt Disney Concert Hall later this month as the finale to Gustavo and the LA Phil’s Mozart/Da Ponte Triology.
