Gustavo + LA Phil: Hollywood Bowl in 2018
LA Phil Music & Artistic Director Gustavo Dudamel returns to lead the orchestra at its beloved summer home, the Hollywood Bowl, in July and August. The LA Phil's 97th summer season at the Hollywood Bowl spotlights artists from around the world and genres from classical and pops to jazz, rock, and world music.
Gustavo conducts a Bernstein centennial celebration, featuring singers Kristin Chenoweth and Brian Stokes Mitchell, on July 10. He takes the stage with Khatia Buniatishvili for Rachmaninoff's Second Piano Concerto on July 12. On July 15, Gustavo conducts Verdi's Otello for the first time with Russel Thomas as Otello, Julianna Di Giacomo as Desdemona, George Gagnidze as Iago, and Jennifer Johnson Cano as Emilia.
Gustavo and the LA Phil are joined by the National Ballet of Cuba for Tchaikovsky's The Nutcracker on August 14 & 16. They perform with celebrated guitar duo Rodrigo y Gabriela on August 17 & 18 and with violinist Itzhak Perlman on August 21. Gustavo closes out his Hollywood Bowl season on August 24 & 25 with a Tchaikovsky Spectacular featuring the USC Trojan Marching Band.
