Gustavo Dudamel resumes Beethoven concerto cycle with LA Phil
Gustavo Dudamel and Norwegian pianist Leif Ove Andsnes continue their survey of Beethoven’s piano concertos with performances of the Second and Fourth this week. In concerts on October 10 and 11, the Fourth Piano Concerto follows Beethoven’s overture to The Ruins of Athens. Then on October 12 and 13, Gustavo joins Leif Ove Andsnes in Beethoven’s Second Piano Concerto before leading the U.S. premiere of Australian composer Brett Dean’s The Last Days of Socrates, a cantata for bass-baritone, chorus, and orchestra, that draws on texts by poet Graeme William Ellis.
