Gustavo Dudamel is named Ford Foundation Art of Change fellow
Gustavo Dudamel joins a group of 25 artists driving social change as one of the Ford Foundation's Art of Change fellows. The program supports the work of visionary artists and cultural leaders whose creative work propels freedom, justice, and inclusion.
Says the Ford Foundation: "Artists and cultural leaders have been at the forefront of social change throughout US history. Today, in the face of growing intolerance and widening inequality, the arts have the power to transform how people see and understand each other, and the world around them." Gustavo is among a cohort of 2017/18 fellows that includes Mikhail Baryshnikov, Mohammed Fairouz, Robin Coste Lewis, Esperanza Spalding, and more.
This fellowship will help Gustavo to continue to envision his mission of making music accessible to all. Fellows will create work to be showcased in late 2018. Stay tuned for more on the project.
