Dudamel conducts two weeks of concerts at Hollywood Bowl this summer
Dudamel begins his summer season with the LA Phil with two concerts with the Chinese pianist Lang Lang on July 12 and 14, featuring Prokofiev's Piano Concerto No. 3 and Ravel's orchestration of Mussorgsky's Pictures at an Exhibition. Dudamel then changes gears to opera when he conducts a concert performance of Puccini's epic Turandot, featuring soprano Christine Brewer in the title role, on July 17.
Following these three nights, Dudamel presents an all-Mozart program with the Phil on July 19. Music for the evening includes the Overture to The Abduction from the Seraglio, Mozart's Symphony No. 41, “Jupiter," and Mozart's Violin Concerto No. 5 featuring Gil Shaham as the soloist. For his last concert on July 21, Dudamel conducts the LA Phil and another violin virtuoso, Pinchas Zukerman, in Bruch's Violin Concerto No. 1 and several works of Johann Strauss II.
