Dudamel appointed Honorary Conductor of the Gothenburg Symphony
Gustavo Dudamel has been appointed Honorary Conductor of the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra, the National Orchestra of Sweden, effective in the 2012/13 season. Recently named the Honorary Citizen of Gethenburg 2010, Dudamel has been the Music Director of the GSO since 2007 and will continue in this position until the conclusion of the 2011/12 season. As Honorary Conductor, Dudamel will dedicate several weeks each season to conducting GSO concerts and will continue collaborating with the orchestra on recording projects and international tours.
Dudamel’s next appearances with the GSO are in the spring of 2011, including a national tour of Sweden. A box set of recorded performances with the GSO is planned for release in the autumn of 2011 by Deutsche Grammophon.
